As soon as it became clear that a diamond consists of carbon atoms, a large experiment with a length of 150 years began.
It seemed that everything would be simple: we take one carbon and turn it into another, but throughout the 19th and 20th century scientists from different parts of the earth could not create an ideal method for obtaining a diamond.
Isaac Newton assumed the carbonaceous nature of diamond.
Breakthrough
The discovery happened in the middle of 20th century. The equation of the "equilibrium lines" has been compiled.
The carbon molecules converged to form a diamond crystal lattice under super-strong compression of graphite, under certain conditions.
Tracy Hall fulfiled the equation. He created a high-pressure apparatus with a temperature of 1,800 °C and a pressure of 120,000 atmospheres.
He tried make it bigger, cleaner and brighter, until he had reached complete perfection!
